Following a childhood in racing, Hugh gained several point-to-point riding successes before becoming assistant to Paul Cole. Since taking out his training licence in 1997 he has trained over 850 winners. Some of his best horses have been Sakhee's Secret, Alcazar, Marmelo and Pastoral Pursuits.
